Climate SprintThe Climate Sprint is a sustainable sports and awareness event in St.Gallen that puts climate action centre stage in an active and tangible way. At its heart is a running event on the Climate Stairs («Klimatreppe»), a project of earlier MaCS cohorts and a symbolic venue for the race against time in climate protection. Beyond athletic performance, the focus is on impact: for every participant, a tree is planted, so the event directly contributes to a concrete reforestation project. The supporting programme created space for exchange, inspiration, and networking between participants, partners, and the local community. Accompanied by four-time Olympic champion Dario Cologna as ambassador, the Climate Sprint shows that sustainable action can be accessible, motivating, and something to experience together. Photovoltaics @WBZ-HSGThe project plans the installation of a solar façade at the WBZ Holzweid. The building envelope is to be transformed from a passive surface into an active source of energy. As a lighthouse project, it demonstrates how existing buildings can be efficiently used for renewable energy — advancing the discussion through stakeholder engagement to move technical ideas towards implementation. In addition, a solar-powered terrace with movable solar panels is being evaluated.

Kinder fürs KlimaThe project brings well-founded climate knowledge to primary school children at an early age through interactive, hands-on workshops on topics such as energy, nutrition, and ecosystems. In collaboration with local schools and in line with the climate goals of the City of St.Gallen, over 110 children have been reached so far. The initiative is designed to be continued in the long term and expanded beyond the region.

Zügig id FerieThe project developed a website that helps people discover climate-friendly holiday travel by train. It offers inspiring rail travel destinations, personalised filter options, and transparent information on emissions, prices, and travel times — showing how easy and attractive climate-friendly alternatives to flying and driving can be.

Carbon Pricing @HSGThe project developed a CO₂ pricing model for business travel at universities to systematically reduce emissions. It proposes implementable solutions, with revenues reinvested in climate-friendly incentives for employees and InterRail passes for students. The goal is to make emissions visible and encourage lasting behavioural change in university travel.

Low Carbon Food @HSGFood systems are responsible for around one third of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet their impact is often underestimated. At HSG, the upcoming Mensa tender offers a unique opportunity to anchor climate protection in procurement and implement concrete change. The project analysed the existing food offering, compared best practices, and developed jointly implementable recommendations — showing how procurement can support institutional climate action.

Lumens for the ClimateLumens for the Climate is an awareness project on sustainability that used art, light, dance, and public space to create an emotional and visual form of climate communication. At its centre was an LED dance show with complementary interactive elements, which took place on 2 May 2026 at the Waaghaus in St.Gallen, drawing public attention to climate topics.
