On the campus of the University of St.Gallen, many roofs are free for the installation of solar panels as a cost-effective and climate-effective solution for the HSG. That's why we want more of them on the campus - this spring, you can join the mission when we launch our first crowdfunded solar roof project at the Sports Hall building. |
What?
The project’s aim is to crowdfund a photovoltaic (PV) plant on the roof of the Sports Hall at the University of St. Gallen. Why? With this student-led project, each one of us can contribute to the fight against one of the most pressing societal challenges of our time: Climate change. This project contributes to reducing the university’s carbon footprint. Why me? As students and the future generation of the workforce, we have an obligation to live up to the values of sustainability. We can make our university a role model in sustainability and signal to the world that we care about our environment. What to I get?

The Sports Hall
Next to open grass fields, on top of the valley of St. Gallen, the Sports Hall is a place where students, professors, and locals meet to enjoy sports and activities as a community. The roof of the Sports Hall poses a great impact opportunity: the grand roof area can produce a considerable amount of solar energy, while the low height of the building ensures high visibility and awareness in the community. |
Potential location for future projects
The Alumni House At an optimal location for a solar roof system, the Alumni House lies next to the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law at the University of St. Gallen - a place where professionals and executives come to gain new perspectives before re-entering society to make an impact. Establishing the Community Solar project at the Alumni House building makes us able to show the impact ambitions of our generation as we engage directly with current and coming leaders of society. |
