The Solar Crowdfunding project @ HSG aims to shift the universities power supply to more renewable and clean energy. Over the past 10 years, the HSG has already been able to reduce its electricity consumption per student substantially. Nevertheless, there is always room and potential for improvement with this kind of infrastructure. The overall goal of the project is to secure the financing of a solar PV plant on top of the universities gym roof. In this context, we intend to leverage a structured marketing concept with a focus on local investors not only to raise as much money as possible for the project, but also to draw attention to the urgency of the overall issue of climate change and the potential of renewables as a solution to it. Become an investor yourself and not only get a solid financial return but also make a direct contribution to the future of our planet. More investment details soon!

Scaling School DaysFrom Insight to Impact - true to the motto of the University of St. Gallen, we want to ensure that tomorrow's generation is aware of the immense importance of its actions for the world. The next ten years are crucial to containing climate change. We want to create awareness of the problem and the urgency in local schools and call for action with a climate day. At this, students will learn vividly about facts on climate change as well as possible solutions to climate challenges. In addition, we want to further scale the idea of climate education by supporting students at teacher training colleges to introduce pupils to the topic.

Wind Energy X HSGThe aim of the project is to conclude a Power Purchase Agreement between the University of St. Gallen and a local wind farm. A Power Purchase Agreement is a long-term electricity supply contract between two parties. Specifically, the planned Oberegg wind turbine project is to be considered as a contractual partner, where our task is to communicate with them. By concluding a PPA with a local wind power plant, it is possible on the one hand to secure energy supplies for the University of St. Gallen, and on the other hand to support the region. In addition, the awareness of regional wind energy at the University of St. Gallen should be increased.

Climate StairsSt.Gallen the city of stairs. Many students of the University of St.Gallen face the daily challenge of climbing the stairs of the Dohlengässlein. With each step the body temperature rises and at the last step the heads radiate in a reddish color. Analogously, the climate is also warming up from year to year, in Switzerland even twice as fast as worldwide. For this reason, we want to coat the steps in the colors of the Climate Stripes and thus draw the attention of the local population as well as the students to the problematic effects of global warming.

Climate Politics Course in the Assessment YearHow can our society be transformed in time to curb climate change? The University of St.Gallen (HSG) aims to educate future leaders, which is why it has a special responsibility. In cooperation with the responsible departments of the HSG, we are designing a new assessment year course (planned for the spring semester of 2026). This course is intended to teach approximately 1,800 students the basics of political science with applications in climate policy and to provide insights into climate solutions. Students shall be encouraged to engage with sustainability issues in the further course of their (academic) career.

Green Monday @ HSGThe project Green Monday @ HSG aims to shift more focus on the vegetarian offer in cafeterias at University of St. Gallen. The overall goal is to introduce a fixed day of the week on which vegetarian dishes are offered exclusively in order to reduce the negative environmental impact of meat consumption at the university. However, the project does not only include adapting of the offer of the cafeterias, but also to inspire the students and all university members to reflect on their food consumption regarding negative environmental impacts, on and off campus. The project should therefore encourage students to enjoy meat-free meals equally or, at best, even to prefer them in future decisions.

HSG Solar Crowdfunding
The InnovationHack is the result of cooperation between four students from the HSG, the Canton of St. Gallen and the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland. On 13 May, teams will creatively find solutions to problems in the areas of "biodiversity", "photovoltaics", "thermal insulation" and "monument protection" and define concrete steps. Afterwards, the participants will be given the opportunity to continue working on their proposed projects with the support of the Canton of St.Gallen. On the one hand, the civilian population will be encouraged to look at their surroundings from a new perspective in cooperation with experts. At the same time, the initiatives developed at the InnovationHack are intended to bring about lasting change in this environment.
